“There Is No Doubt…” Manager Provides Transfer Update After 25M Rated Ivorian Ace Is Linked With Chelsea

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira says that he hasn’t even considered the possibility that Wilfried Zaha will leave Selhurst Park this summer.

Chelsea and Arsenal have both been credited with an interest in the Ivorian over the past week but Vieira says he is convinced that the player will stay with the Eagles:

“I didn’t even put that in my head [that Zaha could leave]. I didn’t even ask myself that question. I’m working with him every day and there is no doubt, there is nothing crossing my mind that something like that will happen.”

It’s possible that the decision to sell Zaha will be taken out of Vieira’s hands. The 29-year-old has less than a year left on his contract and he could leave on a free transfer next year if he doesn’t put pen to paper on an extension.

With that being the case, there is still a chance that the winger will be offloaded before the transfer window shuts. It has been suggested that £25m could be enough to secure Zaha’s signature, although the fee could increase the closer we get to the deadline.

At the moment, Chelsea’s focus is on getting a deal for Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tied up but, if the move collapses, then the Blues could look to Zaha as a fallback option.
