Romano Reveals Aubameyang’s Transfer Stance After United Make Late Bid To Hijack Chelsea Deal

Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would prefer to sign for Chelsea ahead of Manchester United, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils have made an enquiry recently about recruiting the ex-Arsenal player but Romano says the striker has his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge:

“United have asked about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. But Aubameyang has an agreement on personal terms with Chelsea, and has done for a long time. He wants to play Champions League football, and his priority is Chelsea, so let’s see. The Blues could also include Marcos Alonso in the deal, though Barca prefer for this to be discussed separately.”

Barca’s asking price for Aubameyang is said to be holding up a potential transfer. It has been reported that the Catalan club want around €30m (£25m) but Chelsea are only prepared to pay half that amount.

As Romano mentions, the Blues are also keen to include wingback Marcos Alonso in a part-exchange offer but it seems that such a deal is a non-starter.

With only days to go before the transfer window closes, an agreement to bring Aubameyang back to London doesn’t look to be that close at the moment, but we will keep you up to date if a breakthrough is made.
