Chelsea look set to sign Dinamo Moscow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan for €15m (£12.7m) following confirmation from the player’s agent.

When a Russian media outlet asked the 19-year-old’s representative, Pavel Andreev, about reports linking the player with a switch to Stamford Bridge, he replied:

“It’s true. The agreement is close.”

It is believed that Zakharyan has a release clause, which has helped the deal to progress quickly, and it now seems likely that the teenager will become the Blues’ seventh signing of the summer transfer window.

Three senior players have been brought in so far, including Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly. However, the club’s new owners have also given the head of youth development, Neil Bath, the power to headhunt young talent.

In addition to Zakharyan, Chelsea have already recruited three other youngsters in recent weeks: Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan, Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa and goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina from MLS side Chicago Fire.
