Update On Jimmy Greaves As Former Chelsea Star Remains In Hospital

Chelsea legend Jimmy Greaves will undergo more tests this weekend after being admitted to hospital earlier this week, according to his son.

The 80-year-old is suffering with an unidentified illness, which is not believed to be Coronavirus related, and Andy Greaves has provided an update on his father’s condition:

“Dad is still in hospital, he’s still having tests but is comfortable. We would like to thank all the NHS staff for all the work they are doing with Dad at a time when we all know they’re under an incredible amount of pressure.”

“The whole family would like to thank everyone for the kind wishes and thoughts they have been sending to Dad.”

Jimmy started his career at Stamford Bridge in 1957, scoring 132 in 169 games for the Blues before making a switch to AC Milan in 1961.

He then went on to become part of England’s World Cup-winning squad in 1966 before retiring from professional football in the early 70s. He has gone down as one of the greatest strikers in the history of the English game, having scored over 400 goals in a fifteen year period.

Since retirement, he has become a TV personality, as well as having written a number of books, including his latest about the Sixties, which covers a remarkable decade for English football.
