Top Five Chelsea Flops Still Being Paid By Chelsea

Chelsea have made some promising investments over the years but some of them failed miserably. Several very talented young players got lost along the way and were sent off on endless loan spells that made fans forget their names and also forget the money spent on a number of failed deals could cover a world class move. Let’s take a look at five of the best paid players and also most promising players who have been under contract with the club for a while but have not left any mark on the team’s performance.

The first and probably most well-known player to make the list is Victor Moses. The Nigerian forward hasn’t made an appearance for Chelsea for 2 years now and is very unlikely to be kept in the lot for next season. Fortunately Stoke might be interested in swapping Asmir Begovic for him which is a plus considering Cech is on the move.

The second name that most have forgotten is Marko Marin. The speedy 26 year old started well but injuries made him lose contact with Chelsea’s first team. He then went on loan to Anderlecht, Fiorentina or Sevilla.

The third on the list is Lucas Piazon. Seen as one of the most promising youngsters back in 2014, he was a huge disappointment ending up playing for Eintracht Frankfurt where he will probably continue his career. He also played for Malaga and Vitesse but failed to settle in West London.

The fourth name on the list is Oriol Romeu. According to TalkSport, he is probably the only one on the list with an actual possibility of having a future at Chelsea. He has made 33 appearances for the club and signed a new contract recently and hopefully he will prove himself before 2017 when the deal is due to end.

The last player who was expected to make an impact is Christian Atsu. The 23 year old is yet to make any appearances for the Blues and after spending last season with Everton on loan he off on loan again this season as he will playing for newly promoted Bournemouth.
