Chelsea have endured a rollercoaster ride over the course of the summer and the drama in West London looks set to continue into Deadline Day, as Antonio Conte looks to finalise further deals for his club.

The Blues have already added Willy Caballero, Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko to their squad this summer but a wealth of departures has left the team looking slim in key areas, though Conte’s side have found it difficult to secure further names.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain snubbed an offer from the Premier League champions in favour of moving to Liverpool, with his exit from Arsenal set to be made official today, and Chelsea face similar issues in their quest to sign a striker.

Swansea City forward Fernando Llorente has attracted the interest of Tottenham Hotspur, who currently stand as the favourites for the Spaniard’s signature, and the Blues also seem to have missed out on Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier, who’s on the verge of a move to Spurs.

Chelsea will remain active in the transfer market for both a new striker and a full-back on the right-side but may find it difficult to get the players they want, although it seems they have plenty of options in a midfield area.

Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater is the prime target for Conte’s side, as he seeks to bolster his depth in the middle of the park, but the Blues are also keeping tabs on want-away Everton man Ross Barkley– who is also attracting interest from Spurs.

In terms of outgoing deals, Diego Costa looks set to finally seal his exit from Stamford Bridge today and is closing in on a return to Atletico Madrid, though the Spanish side are unable to play him until the New Year, and Brazilian winger Kenedy is attracting interest from Newcastle United.

Another Brazilian winger Willian has also been linked with an exit, although that currently seems unlikely to go ahead, but an exit for Charley Musonda is another deal that many anticipate to be completed before this evening’s transfer deadline.
