Chelsea attacking midfielder Mason Mount was in fine form as the Blues picked up a vital three points against Aston Villa yesterday evening.
The 21-year-old’s form had tailed after an excellent start to the season, but he was on his game as manager Frank Lampard kept him on for the full 90 minutes at Villa Park.
Supporters on Twitter with very pleased with Mount’s overall contributions in the match:
Sublime performance

Why do we need havertz when we have Mount?

Love his determination

He’s brilliant from deeper too. Been playing out of position all season to help the team. Look how much influence he can have from deeper. Started all our good play

I thought he played a great game, as well. I’d be ok if Chelsea used that Havertz money on some defenders not named Chilwell

Needs to play as a No.8 (433) more often

People forget he’s only turned 21 this season, the future is soo bright for him. Imagine when he hits 24/25…

Although the England international didn’t get a goal or assist, he was always proactive on the ball, delivering some excellent passes and forcing Villa keeper Orjan Nyland into a fine save in the first half.
The key for Mount now, though, will be consistency. If he can continue in this vein for the rest of the remaining fixtures this campaign, Lampard may well reconsider a move for Kai Havertz and focus his summer spending on improving other areas of the pitch instead.
