Atletico Madrid will not meet Chelsea’s €40m asking price for Marcos Alonso, according to reports in the Spanish media.
The La Liga side are believed to be keen on signing the left-back this summer, but they will only make a move if the Blues lower their demands.
With Alonso unlikely to force through a transfer after signing a new contract back in October, the fullback could well stay put this summer.
After the defender’s poor performances last season, as well as suggestions that he would be open to a move back to Spain, fans on Twitter believe Chelsea should lower their asking price:
Sell him for a mug of coffee, two pastas and one cowshell……we have da silva

€30 million is good for both parties, I guess.

Can we give them the 40 mill?

Alonso has been a great player but as is obvious with a lot of Chelsea players they tail off very very rapidly and seem to outstay their welcome! He should leave and try to maintain first team football elsewhere.

€40m is way below the players worth considering he still has 2 years contract to run with the club

Alonso’s future likely depends on who the next manager is. Currently, the Blues have Emerson Palmieri, Kenedy, Jay Dasilva and even Baba Rahman who can play left back so offloading Alonso wouldn’t necessarily weaken the left-hand side.
However, the next man in charge may still favour the Spaniard as first choice, and the club will likely not sanction any sale until a new head coach is in place.
