Sarri’s Father Provides An Update On His Son’s Future At Chelsea

The father of Maurizio Sarri has said that his son has yet to be released from his contract at Chelsea.

It had been reported that Juventus had agreed a deal for the Italian, but when asked about the Blues manager’s future, Amerigo Sarri replied:

“[Chelsea] haven’t released him yet. Even he doesn’t know when it’ll happen. I hope he returns to Italy.”

Chelsea are believed to be demanding £5m in compensation for Sarri, while it has been reported that the London club have yet to approach Derby County about his potential successor, Frank Lampard.

It is believed the Rams are looking to tie down Lampard to a new contract, but the Blues legend is said to be very keen to take over at Stamford Bridge.

The former midfielder would reportedly find it hard to turn down the manager’s job at Chelsea, after spending over 13 years at the club as a player before moving on a free transfer to New York City in 2014.

Following his retirement from football in 2017, Lampard was appointed to his first managerial post last May and guided Derby to the playoff final.
