Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana is high on Chelsea’s list of goalkeeper targets, according to reports in England. The Cameroon international is said to be available for around £30m with the player keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
It is believed that the Blues are in regular contact with Onana’s agents ahead of a possible transfer, but fans on Twitter had a mixed reaction to the news:
Not an upgrade

Can't they just go for Nick Pope? Impossible? Any gridlock or bottleneck?

Gotta make it happen, we can’t continue with Kepa he’s just not Chelsea level

One of the major concerns about Onana is his physicality. Although he is slightly taller than Kepa at 6ft 3, he wouldn’t be described as the most imposing of goalkeepers.
There are other names in the frame, with manager Frank Lampard said to be a big fan of Manchester United’s Dean Henderson but the likelihood of the Red Devils being willing to sell to a direct rival is low.
Onana’s reasonable price tag may tempt Chelsea into making a move for him, with their current number one Kepa having struggled for form this campaign.
