Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham was surprisingly recalled to the starting line up by manager Frank Lampard for the West Ham game last night.

With Olivier Giroud in red-hot form, it was assumed that the Frenchman would keep his place for the Hammers clash but Abraham was handed his chance and he duly delivered by bagging a vital brace.

Supporters have not always been convinced that Abraham has what it takes to be a first-team regular for the Blues but the reaction on Twitter to the 23-year-old’s display was very positive:

Considering Timo Werner is struggling in front of goal at the moment, it is great to see Abraham stepping up to the plate when given the opportunity. The England international was very clinical in front of goal.

He showed his poacher’s instincts for his first, redirecting a scuffed effort from Werner into the goal, while his second was the finish of a confident striker.
