Hoddle Names The Summer Signing Who Has “Got To Show More” Following Difficult Start At Chelsea

Former Chelsea player and manager Glenn Hoddle has demanded more from the club’s record signing Kai Havertz. The German has had a somewhat difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge, having recently returned from a spell out with the virus.

The German has shown flashes of brilliance during his first few months at the club and, while Hoddle expects him to improve, the BT Sport pundit feels he needs to demonstrate his talent on a more consistent basis:

“Kai Havertz has got to show more. There is more to come from him, do not get me wrong, he is a very good player.”

Havertz played the first 74 minutes in the 1-1 draw versus FK Krasnodar last night and looked impressive in the first half, in particular, but he is lacking an end product at the moment, which could remerge once he regains his match sharpness.

Whether the £72m price tag is weighing heavily on the 21-year-old, we shall have to wait and see over the course of the season. Fans, like Hoddle, will be waiting for the player to spring into life.
