Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal have been well-documented but manager Graham Potter has continued to persist with Kai Havertz without the German really making much of an impact.
David Datro Fofana impressed during a cameo appearance against Fulham earlier this month, where he nearly got on the scoresheet, only to have his effort cleared off the line. Fans on Twitter are now urging manager Graham Potter to give the 20-year-old an extended run as a starter so he can show what he can do:
he has to play, there’s no excuse

Our missing piece, if we had a striker on the pitch against Dortmund, we would’ve at least manage to score a goal.

Datro is a talented player, he’s showed everything havertz lack as a forward, he’s capable of holding the ball as well as dribbling and creating space, very confident boy, he’s also really good in the 18 yard box

I wonder what is stopping him from even being considered by Potter

I think he got to get a run of games and move havertz back to 10
— Lee (@LeeM_uk) February 17, 2023
Honestly I see no reason why he’s still in bench
— Humble_Jo (@HumbleJo7) February 17, 2023
He’s so needed now like Havertz needs to get the bench Icl

It should be noted that Fofana does have limited senior experience, having only made 67 first-team appearances in his career so far. Giving him the responsibility of leading the line in the Premier League is, therefore, a lot to ask.
However, with Havertz struggling, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seemingly out of Potter’s plans, needs must. Fofana has made a few appearances in the Europa League and Europa Conference League that should help him cope but he will pretty much have to learn on the job if he’s asked to become a regular starter.
