Ex-Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has backed Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez to be a big success in the Premier League.
The Argentinian may have been at fault for Borussia Dortmund’s goal midweek but he was excellent against West Ham last Saturday, and Aguero feels the player will make his mark in England:
“Enzo has shown time and time again, both in his first club River Plate and in the Argentina national team and Benfica, that he does not feel pressure and assumes his responsibility on the pitch naturally.”
“We saw it in his Chelsea debut. He made the team play and almost reached the goal. And it was his first game. In the second he put in a masterful assist for Joao Felix’s goal. He will surely have a very important progression in the Premier League.”
As a fellow countryman who has made 275 Premier League appearances, Aguero knows a thing or two about how an Argentine can be successful in the English top flight.
Fernandez certainly does have a lot of pressure on his shoulders, considering he is the most expensive signing ever made by a British club, but it seems he has the right mentality to take sort of thing in his stride.
There are likely to be a fair few ups and downs in the coming weeks and months as he adapts to his new country. Even so, it seems Aguero is confident that he will make the grade.
