‘Class Act Of A Player’ ‘Please Make This Happen’ Fans Excited As Chelsea Reportedly Step Up Pursuit Of £50m Rated Striker

Chelsea have made contact with RB Leipzig about signing Timo Werner, according to reports in the German media.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have also been linked with a bid for the German international but it seems the Blues are the ones currently making the running to sign the striker.

Fans on Twitter are hoping Chelsea can beat their rivals for Werner:

The 24-year-old reportedly has a £50m release clause, but there has been some debate as to when it expires. Some reports claim it will expire at the end of this month while others believe it ends on June 15th.

Whatever the case, Werner’s availability for such a price will certainly attract bidders, with the forward having scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists in 36 appearances for Leipzig this campaign.

He would definitely add extra firepower to Frank Lampard side’s attack, but with so many clubs interested, there is likely to be a fierce battle for his signature.
