Chelsea are planning a bid for Bayern Munich left-back David Alaba, according to reports in England. The Blues are said to be weighing up a £60m offer for the Austrian international.
The 27-year-old only has eighteen months left on his contract at the Allianz Arena and the London club believe he could well solve the club’s problems at left-back.
Manager Frank Lampard is not convinced by either Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri, having selected captain Cesar Azpilicueta on the left on a number of occasions. Supporters on Twitter think Alaba could be a good buy:

Feels like he’s been around for ever, but at 27 this would still be a good deal. That said, I can’t see them allowing him to leave.

Before fans get too excited by the prospect of signing Alaba, though, Bayern’s interim head coach Hans-Dieter Flick has said the player is not for sale, and that the Austrian has not talked to him about leaving:
“He trained well on holiday and prepared himself. He told me nothing [about wanting to leave].”
However, it remains to be seen if Bayern’s attitude will change if a formal bid does come in, considering the defender’s contract situation.
