Juventus Consider Swoop For Chelsea Star As Sarri Targets Former Player

Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri is being targeted by Juventus, according to reports in Italy. Ex-Blues manager Maurizio Sarri is said to be keen on recruiting his fellow Italian in the January transfer window.

The fullback became a regular under Sarri in the closing months of last season, and his former coach has been suitably impressed to want to work with him again.

Whether Chelsea would sanction the sale, it seems unlikely if they can’t bring in a replacement. The Blues have been linked with a move for Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, but as things stand, the London club can’t sign players until the summer, when the transfer ban is lifted.

There is an appeal that could lead to their embargo being removed next month, but if it does remain in place, Emerson would remain a key player for manager Frank Lampard. The 25-year-old has started all but one game in the Premier League when he has been fit this season.
