Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Arsenal: 433 Formation With Barkley, Emerson and Willian To Start

The injury to N’Golo Kante has certainly made planning for the Europa League final very difficult for Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

The Italian also has a decision to make as to who he will pick at left-back and upfront for the game against Arsenal. So, let’s look at his selection decisions.

Defence

Cesar Azpilicueta will start at right-back, while Andreas Christensen and David Luiz will be chosen as the two centre-backs with Antonio Rudiger out injured.

Sarri could select Emerson Palmieri ahead of Marcos Alonso to give his side greater defensive solidity against a very threatening Gunners attack.

Midfield

Sarri is down to the bare bones in terms of options in central midfield so the Italian will have little choice but to opt for Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley alongside Jorginho in the middle of the park if Kante is not fit to start.

Danny Drinkwater was not in the travelling party, and with Ruben Loftus-Cheek out of contention with an Achilles injury, youngster Conor Gallagher will likely be named on the bench.

On the wings, Eden Hazard will start on the left, while I think Sarri will go for Willian ahead of Pedro on the right. The Brazilian has generally played in the big games this campaign.

Striker

Gonzalo Higuain has looked a frustrated figure, clashing with David Luiz in training last night, as well as Willy Caballero and Pedro earlier in the week.

His lack of discipline may have made Sarri’s mind up for him. Olivier Giroud has played very well in the Europa League this season and the Frenchman is heavy favourite to start up front this evening.

Predicted XI:

Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Luiz, Emerson, Barkley, Jorginho, Kovacic, Willian, Giroud, Hazard
