Latest Chelsea Injury News: Updates On Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez And 7 Other Players

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo missed the 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Sunday due to illness. It remains to be seen whether the Ecuadorian international will be fit to face Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Enzo Fernandez was also missing from the squad that travelled to Molineux at the weekend. The 22-year-old went off midway through the first half of the Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle last week.

It was confirmed after the match that Fernandez had been ill but manager Mauricio Pochettino has since said the midfielder is suffering from a hernia as well.

There is hope that he won’t be out for too long but these injuries can take a while to clear up so it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if he is sidelined for the Palace and Luton fixtures.

Updates on the fitness of 7 other Chelsea players

Captain Reece James has undergone surgery on a troublesome hamstring problem. The fullback is set to be out for several months but there is confidence that the longstanding issue has finally been resolved. He is expected to return before the end of the season.

Ben Chilwell is stepping up his comeback from his own hamstring injury and it looks like he will be involved in a matchday squad very soon. It is not certain whether he will make the Palace game though.

Robert Sanchez is likely to return to fitness within the next couple of weeks. The club’s no.1 picked up a knee problem earlier this month. Carney Chukwuemeka (knee), meanwhile, has been pictured back out on the training pitch so there is hope that he will be available for selection in the not-too-distant future.

Marc Cucurella has had an operation on an ankle injury, and the defender is set to be sidelined until February. Trevoh Chalobah (hamstring) is expected to return during the same timeframe. Wesley Fofana is continuing his rehabilitation from the ACL injury he suffered in pre-season.
