Chelsea are preparing an £85m offer for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, according to reports in the English media.
The Blues are said to have had scouts in attendance last Thursday when the Jamaican scored in the 3-1 win over Rangers in the Europa League.
Manager Frank Lampard is reportedly looking to strengthen his options in wide areas further after securing Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, and he believes Bailey should be the next target.
However, they are said to be facing competition from Bayern Munich for the 22-year-old, but with Leverkusen not keen on selling to a rival Bundesliga club, it hands Chelsea the advantage in the race to sign the player.
Bailey has not had a great season, it must be said, having scored seven goals and contributed just one assist in 22 appearances.
His potential has, though, attracted Europe’s elite clubs, and with Lampard planning to replace the likes of Pedro and Willian, the winger could well be the ideal candidate.
