Chelsea have made Ajax attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech one of their two top targets for the summer transfer window, along with Ben Chilwell, according to reports in England.
The Moroccan playmaker, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United, has been in good form, having scored eight goals and contributed 21 assists in 29 appearances this campaign.
Supporters on Twitter are mostly backing the club’s efforts to sign Ziyech:
And in general would be a hell of a signing… He looks class, he showed that against us… But our scout department don’t know what they are doing, we go the ban reduced for what? We ought to be prepared for this, but it looks like we didn’t at all.

They are different players. We need a player different from Pulisic/CHO. I feel like Sancho will MAYBE increase goals a tiny bit, but Ziyech will bring a whole different element to the game that we need on one side.

Although some would like the 26-year-old this month in order to add some much-needed creativity to the side:
I really wanted Chelsea to sign Ziyech now in this window especially when we can’t get Sancho now. Ajax are already out of the UCL & Ziyech can play for us in the UCL. He’s the UCL experience & he can fix our ‘creativity’ issues to a great extent.

If Ziyech really was one of our top targets for the summer he’d probably already be here right now

The January window is still opened remember. We need to players now.

There’s no doubt that Chelsea have struggled to create goals since the departure of Eden Hazard and Ziyech could well be the perfect solution, considering his assist record over the past two seasons.
In addition to the 21 goals he has created this campaign, he laid on another 24 assists last season. That is 45 in total which is a pretty incredible figure. Of course, with many of those coming in the Eredivisie, you have to dampen expectations slightly but it’s hard to argue with the Moroccan international’s numbers.
