Who Earns The Most Money At Chelsea? We List The Top Five Highest Paid Players

Salaries are increasing every year in professional football, with some of the best players in the world now earning in the region of £500,000 a week.

At Chelsea, things haven’t quite reached those levels yet, but the top five on this list all earn above the £190,000 a week mark.

It is understandable why then that the likes of Antonio Rudiger are asking for parity with some other members of the first-team squad.

Press the next page as we look at Chelsea’s highest-earning players (based on data from Spotrac).

5) Ben Chilwell – £190,000 a week

The left-back has struggled to regain his place from Marcos Alonso at the start of the season, with manager Thomas Tuchel admitting his lack of game time for England at Euro 2020 dented his confidence.

Chilwell made a return to the starting lineup against Southampton last Saturday. It was a mixed bag, having given away the penalty for James Ward-Prowse’s equaliser before scoring the third goal.

4) Saul Niguez – £198,000 a week

The Blues are paying through the nose to loan the Spanish international for a season. The London club are believed to be paying his wages in full throughout his spell at Stamford Bridge.

After an awful debut against Aston Villa, Niguez has not made another appearance in the league so far, but it will be hoped he can improve on a poor start and justify the money that has been spent on him.

3) Timo Werner – £272,000 a week

The German got a confidence-boosting goal in the 3-1 win over Southampton at the weekend but it has been a very difficult eighteen months for the striker since his arrival from RB Leipzig.

Werner’s inconsistency in front of goal is a major frustration and it looks as though that, despite his high salary, he will be a squad player going forward.

2) N’Golo Kante – £290,000 a week

The Frenchman more than merits his pay packet, considering what he offers the team when he is fit and available. There are some concerns that he is getting more injury prone as he gets older but he did play a key role in helping Chelsea win the Champions League back in May.

Kante should be back in contention after the international break and it will be hoped that he can help the Blues mount a strong title challenge this campaign.

1) Romelu Lukaku – £325,000 a week

When you break your club-record transfer fee to sign a player, it inevitably means that you will have to stump up a sizeable wage as well.

Lukaku should justify his pay, though, if he scores consistently for Chelsea over the next five years, with his contract set to expire in 2026.
