Chelsea are considering a summer bid for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, according to reports in the English media.
The France international has a €42m (£38m) release clause which comes into effect at the end of the season. The clause has led other clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid to also take a keen interest in the defender.
Supporters are split over whether Upamecano would be a good purchase for the Blues, with some excited by the prospect, while others have questioned the 22-year-old’s recent form:

Leipzig have only conceded 12 goals in 15 Bundesliga matches this season, which is the best defensive record in the league, so Upamecano has been performing to a pretty high level.
Some of the more negative opinions may have been coloured by his displays in the Champions League, especially in the 5-0 defeat to United, but his availability for such a low price will be very tempting for a club like Chelsea.
