Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has not featured in Frank Lampard‘s last eight matchday squads and there has been growing speculation that the Spaniard will leave the club in January.
Despite his poor defensive qualities, there are a number of fans on Twitter who think the 28-year-old should be recalled ahead of the game against Tottenham, in order to give the side an additional attacking threat:
The secret weapon we need vs tottenham…They kind of play 3-4-3 with mourinho.

Bring back Alonso. Bench Emerson till he knows how to assist the attack line

Frank should consider starting alonso once again, Emerson didn't improve the squad

Alonso should be given a second chance…

People actually think Alonso is better than Emerson…lmfao

Alonso is a genuine wingback rather than a left-back, and it appears Lampard has concluded he can’t be trusted in a four-man defence.
Cesar Azpilicueta was played out of position when Emerson has not started in recent games, and it does appear Alonso is on borrowed time at Stamford Bridge.
Whether he’ll be given one last shot before next month, during the busy Christmas period, we shall have to wait and see.
