Chelsea are expected to sign Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell in the next few days, according to reports in the English media. There had been claims that a heel injury could have scuppered the move but the Blues are not believed to be too concerned about the problem.
The 23-year-old is now poised to sign a five-year contract to make the switch to Stamford Bridge. He is expected to earn £190,000 a week and that figure has caused a stir among supporters on Twitter:

Wages in football have certainly skyrocketed in recent years and Chilwell’s salary effectively reflects his position as an established England international.
Even so, with clubs having to cut costs during the global health crisis, it is a huge pay packet, which demonstrates the extreme wealth that the Premier League has generated over the past few decades.
With Chelsea looking to get back to the top of English football, they are prepared to pay top dollar to get the best players available.
