Chelsea’s deal for Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell could well hinge on the results of a medical, according to reports in the UK.

The England international currently has a heel injury and if results of a medical examination show he will be out for another six weeks, rather than the three that was originally predicted, the Blues may reconsider whether to go through with the transfer.

A fee in the region of £50m is believed to have been agreed between Chelsea and Leicester for Chilwell, but if the 23-year-old misses the start of the new season due to the injury, Frank Lampard’s side will have a decision to make.

At this stage, there is no sign the London club are threatening to pull out of the deal but medicals have been known to scupper transfers in the past and this is something Chelsea supporters should keep an eye on in the coming days.
