Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has a “strong interest” in signing Chelsea attacking midfielder Mason Mount, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.
The trusted journalist claims the Bundesliga champions have joined the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal in pursuing the 24-year-old:
🚨 Mason Mount spoke to Todd Boehly on Friday; Chelsea co-owner reiterated 24yo’s importance + wish to keep him. Interpreted at #CFC as positive step but huge decision ahead as likes of #LFC #MUFC #AFC & Tuchel #FCBayern show strong interest @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/RyHFgAj5MJ

As Ornstein also points out, Chelsea haven’t given up hope of keeping Mount, who will have a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Talks with Todd Boehly are believed to have taken place on Friday last week, and there is now a slightly better chance of the player remaining with the Blues.
Up until recently, it was believed to be a “foregone conclusion” that Mount would be sold at the end of the season, but the “positive” conversation with Boehly has opened up dialogue once again.
Whether it will lead to Mount reaching agreement on a wage rise and putting pen to paper on a contract extension, we shall have to wait and see.
