Sporting Director Raises Prospect Of Chelsea Transfer After Admitting £89m Rated Star Could Leave

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has offered encouragement to the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in their attempts to sign Kai Havertz.

When asked whether the German club are confident that they can retain the 20-year-old’s services, Voller replied that he is not optimistic that they’ll be able to keep the player for much longer:

“I’m honest, I always have such a small hope that we can and will keep him here for another year. It doesn’t change the fact that he’s already a world-class player anyway, that’s what he was before. Now the attention is even more on him. He will switch to an absolute world-class club at some point.”

Chelsea have reportedly targeted Havertz as a potential alternative for Jadon Sancho if the Borussia Dortmund winger opts to move to United instead.

However, the German international will not come cheap, with numerous news outlets claiming that Leverkusen could demand up to €100m (£89m) for the forward, with the player having performed superbly in the Bundesliga this season.

Due to the current financial climate, though, they may well consider offers for below that amount but there will no doubt be a number of other teams interested if he is available when the transfer window reopens.
