Should Chelsea Offer Terry New Deal?

Blues defender John Terry has revealed that talks over a new contract with the club are ongoing.

The Chelsea captain’s current contract expires at the end of the season and there have been reports linking him with top European clubs such as Manchester City, Galatasaray among others. However, Terry has revealed that he wants to stay at the club and that talks over a new contract are in progress.

According to Metro, he said, “It’s a club I’ve been at since I was 14 and I want to stay here for the rest of my footballing days. Talks are going on, but obviously we’ve had a lot of big games so we’ve not spoken for a few weeks.”

“They know I want to stay, I’ve made that very clear to them and hopefully it can be sorted by the end of the season. I certainly feel I’ve got something to give next year and after that I don’t know, but I certainly hope so.”

The centre-back has been in inspired form under Jose Mourinho this season after falling out of favour with ex-boss Rafael Benitez last term. It remains to be seen whether Terry will be offered a new deal, but with Mourinho at the helm, a one-year rolling contract for the captain seems likely as Terry has been in excellent form and has shown that Benitez was mistaken by not using him much last year as JT has arguably been as good a centre-back as any other in the Premier League this season.

Do you think 33-year-old Terry deserves another season with the Premier League giants?
