REPORT: Chelsea’s 35M Swoop For Badiashile Could Be Hijacked By Premier League Rival

Manchester United could yet make a move for Chelsea target Benoit Badiashile, according to Foot Mercato.

The French website have confirmed reports that the Blues have made a €40m (£35m) bid for the Monaco defender but they report that United are also “on the lookout to enlist him.”

It is believed that the Red Devils have been scouting Badiashile for many years and they could yet interfere in Chelsea’s attempts to snap up the France international,

Whether that will in fact happen, it is questionable. Erik ten Hag’s side spent a sizeable amount to bring in another left-footed centre-back, Lisandro Martinez, last summer.

It means that, while they have had a past interest in Badiashile, they are unlikely to compete for his signature now, as he is no longer a priority target.

At the moment, you would back the Blues to have a clear run at signing the 21-year-old but we shall see how this transfer story develops.
