REPORT: Chelsea Preparing 131K A Week Contract As They Plot 85M Offer For Portuguese Speedster

Chelsea could table a bid in the region of €100m (£85m) for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao before the transfer window shuts, according to La Repubblica.

The Italian newspaper claims that the Blues would also be prepared to give him a bumper pay rise if he does agree to move to Stamford Bridge.

Leao is currently earning just €1.4m a year net (around £23,000 a week), but it is believed that the London club are promising to offer the player €8m a year (approximately £131,000 a week).

With personal terms unlikely to be an issue, the main stumbling block will be Milan and whether the Serie A champions will be willing to sell the Portuguese international.

Most reports in Italy have suggested that the Rossoneri are determined to hold out for Leao’s €150m (£127m) release clause but La Repubblica are less certain that is the case.

Due to a legal dispute with one of Leao’s former clubs, Sporting Lisbon, €20m (£17m) is owed in compensation. This issue, combined with concerns over whether the 23-year-old would be willing to sign a contract extension. could tempt Milan into offloading the player.
