Real Madrid Weighing Up Shock Swoop For 24 Year Old Who Has Been Deemed “Not Good Enough” For Chelsea

Real Madrid are considering whether to make a bid for Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic at the end of the season, according to Defensa Central.

The Spanish website claim the European champions are keen on strengthening their right flank and they have identified the 24-year-old as an option.

Pulisic is one of the main candidates to be sold this summer, with owner Todd Boehly looking to ensure the club stays within Financial Fair Play regulations after spending £600m on new signings.

While Pulisic has had his moments in a Blues shirt, he has more often than not flattered to deceive. Last month, former Everton and West Ham forward Don Hutchinson named the American as he assessed which players could be offloaded in a squad clearout:

“They’re probably thinking ‘we could do with probably letting about six or seven first-team players go’. They are not good enough and not what I want. You can’t do it. It’s impossible because you are sitting in tenth. You need them. You need replacement before you move those players on. He [Potter] hasn’t got time for that. Christian Pulisic is a talented player. All these players are talented players. Don’t get me wrong because they play for their countries and they play for Chelsea. And they play in the Premier League. But, off the ball, Christian Pulisic is weak.”

Chelsea have 34 senior players on the books at the moment so there will be a number of departures in the coming months. Pulisic seems to be one of those heading towards the exit door, but it will certainly raise a few eyebrows if he ends up at Real.
