Real Madrid Vs Chelsea Champions League: Match Preview & Injury News

Chelsea are gearing up for a massive clash with Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday evening – can Frank Lampard’s team survive the away leg?

The Blues are set to be without Armando Broja and Cesar Azpilicueta for their trip to the Bernabeu Stadium. Additionally, both Mason Mount and Thiago Silva are doubts – however, both are expected to be available for selection.

In the last round of the tournament, Chelsea defeated Borussia Dortmund by 2-1 on aggregate. Despite losing the first leg 1-0, Chelsea turned the tie around in the second leg, as they won by a final score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid swept aside Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool by an aggregate score of 6-2. Madrid were dominant in the first leg, winning 5-2, as they relentlessly capitalised on Liverpool’s defensive frailties.

Despite falling 2-0 down, the Spanish giants weren’t about to let the game slip through their fingers – Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema and Eder Militao all got their names on the scoresheet en route to victory.

The last time the two teams met in the Champions League, Madrid won the tie overall by a score of 5-4. In the first leg, Los Blancos won by a score of 3-1, with Karim Benzema netting a hattrick – the Blues’ sole response came through Kai Havertz.

In the second leg of the tie, Chelsea won by a score of 3-2 – but this was not enough to win the game on aggregate. Can the Blues get some revenge this time around?
