RANKED: The Win % Of The Top Six Candidates Linked With The Chelsea Manager’s Job

Nagelsmann

With Chelsea’s search for a new manager gathering pace, we have decided to take a look at the win % of the top six candidates to replace Graham Potter.

There are a few factors that need to be taken into account when looking at these stats. Some of these managers haven’t been in the game as long as others so that may skew their percentages higher.

You also have to consider that some of them have managed smaller clubs, which will reduce their win ratio, while others may have been working in countries where the competition is not as strong.

Even so, we have still ranked the managers based on their win percentage so press the next page to see who comes out on top.

6) Mauricio Pochettino – 48.8%

The Argentine had a lengthy spell as Espanyol’s manager, and a shorter stint with Southampton, so that has to be taken into account when assessing why he is bottom of this list.

Pochettino transformed Tottenham during his time at the London club and got them to a Champions League final, while he won a league title with Paris Saint-Germain.

Even so, the fact that he was sacked by PSG just eighteen months into the job does raise some question marks about his suitability for Chelsea.

5) Oliver Glasner – 50%

The Austrian has had impressive spells as manager of both Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, winning the Europa League with the latter last season.

However, his longest spell in charge of a club was at LASK Linz so his win ratio needs to be assessed with that in mind.

Having success in the Austrian Bundesliga is one thing, but managing in the Premier League is an entirely different challenge.

4) Luciano Spalletti – 51.9%

The Italian is very much flavour of the month, with his Napoli team conquering all before them both in Serie A and the Champions League.

It should be noted, though, that Spalletti is nearing the 1000 game mark as a manager and he has had a long career with many successes and failures.

The 64-year-old’s win percentage is, therefore, pretty impressive, considering how many clubs he has taken charge of over the years.

3) Julian Nagelsmann – 53.7%

The most impressive thing about the 35-year-old is that he has never managed outside of the top tier in senior football, and his win percentage is still very high.

Nagelsmann’s first club was Hoffenheim, but he really made a name for himself at RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.

Of course, he hasn’t managed outside of Germany, and you do wonder how he will handle the rigours of English football, considering the standard of the Premier League.

2) Luis Enrique – 63.1%

The Spaniard had unremarkable stints at Roma and Celta Vigo before shining during his outstanding spell at Barcelona.

It was extremely tough to build on Pep Guardiola’s legacy but Enrique managed it by winning nine trophies in three seasons with the Catalan club.

Of course, having Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez to call upon did help, and his time as head coach of Spain wasn’t nearly as impressive.

1) Ruben Amorim – 69%

Winning two-thirds of your matches as a manager will inevitably lead to teams, including Chelsea, taking notice of you.

Amorim won the Portuguese Primeira Liga with Sporting Lisbon in 2021, beating the likes of Benfica and Porto to the title, but there are concerns about whether he has been tested enough.

Many have already drawn comparisons between Amorim and the likes of Jose Mourinho and Andre Villas-Boas. If he ends up at Stamford Bridge, fans will very much be hoping he turns out like the former instead of the latter.
