‘It’s Very Simple’ Popular Pundit Names Player That Chelsea MUST Sell In The Summer

Well-respected pundit Ally McCoist has claimed that Chelsea should secure a transfer away from the club for Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window on TalkSPORT’s morning breakfast radio show.

Lukaku initially signed for Chelsea in 2011, but a series of unimpressive performances led him to sign for Everton in 2014. In 2021, he made his return to the club amidst much fanfare – but once again, he failed to deliver, scoring just eight goals in 26 appearances for the Blues.

What did Ally McCoist say?

On TalkSPORT breakfast radio this morning, McCoist said: “You’ve got to let him go. After the comments he made, his heart’s not in it. I think he wants to stay in the Serie A.

“It’s very simple, I don’t think there is any point at all in keeping players who don’t want to be at your football club. It can create a bad atmosphere in the dressing room. Lukaku doesn’t want to play for Chelsea. Simple.”

Who will Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku join in the summer?

So far, Lukaku has been linked with several clubs amid his impending Chelsea exit. A slew of clubs in Saudi Arabia are thought to be interested in a move for the boisterous Belgian, but this interest is not reciprocated on his end.

Instead, Lukaku appears to prefer a move back to Inter Milan, the club he spent the 2022/23 on loan at.

Lukaku is currently unhappy with his perceived treatment at the hands of the club – he feels they have been trying to force a move for him to Saudi Arabia, which, as mentioned, he has no interest in.

As such, Inter appear to hold all the aces in this particular situation. The Blues may be forced to accept whatever they offer them for Lukaku – or risk having an unhappy, expensive player on their books. Additionally, it should also be mentioned that Inter have yet to submit a formal offer for the Belgian international.

It appears that Lukaku would be open to another season on loan with Inter – as things stand, so long as he is playing for La Beneamata next season, he will be satisfied.
