Owen Predicts The Result As Chelsea Take On Rennes In The Champions League

Former England international Michael Owen is expecting Chelsea to win and get another clean sheet when they face Rennes at Stamford Bridge this evening.

The Blues have tightened up at the back over the past few weeks and Owen thinks it will hold them in good stead as they look to secure another three points in their Champions League group:

“Since their 3-3 draw at home to Southampton, Chelsea have gone 4 games on the bounce without conceding a goal. The Blues have certainly turned the corner after a sluggish start to the season, and I think they’ll come out on top at home to Rennes here.”

Owen has gone for a 2-0 home win, which is a pretty fair prediction. Rennes sit third in the French league at the moment so they will be no pushovers despite losing to Sevilla and drawing at home against Krasnodar in their first two group games.

Manager Frank Lampard has an almost fully fit squad to choose from too so he does have the option to make a few changes and still send out a very strong team,  A fifth straight clean sheet would also be very welcome, considering Rennes have averaged two goals per game in the league this season.
