Nizaar Kinsella Confirms Chelsea Could Revive Move For 80 Cap Forward After Rejecting Him For Aubemeyang Last Summer

Chelsea are considering whether to reignite their interest in Barcelona forward Memphis Depay, according to the Evening Standard‘s Nizaar Kinsella.

The journalist claims the Blues “explored a deal” for the 80-cap Dutch international in the summer before opting to sign his teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead. However, the fact that he has six months left on his contract at Barca could make him a cheap purchase in January:

Depay would be a decent short-term solution for the Blues, considering the news that Armando Broja will be sidelined for the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. They may, though, have to fight off competition from other Premier League teams for his signature.

The 28-year-old is also being eyed by the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, with both teams needing to strengthen their forward lines as well.

Depay is not the only forward being looked at by Chelsea, though. Kinsella claims Graham Potter’s side have also been offered Atletico Madrid duo Joao Felix and Matheus Cunha, while they are still targeting Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko.
