Nizaar Kinsella Claims Arsenal Could Join Chase To Sign 19 Year Old Chelsea Defender

Chelsea are “considering whether to sanction” the sale of Levi Colwill, with Arsenal among the teams interested in signing the 19-year-old, according to journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

The Evening Standard‘s Blues correspondent believes there could be a scramble for the defender’s signature, with the likes of Crystal Palace, Leicester, Southampton and Brighton also interested in recruiting the teenager:

Colwill is unlikely to get many first-team opportunities next season, especially as Chelsea are looking to bring in three new centre-backs; two of which could be direct rivals for his place in the starting eleven.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe and Manchester City’s Nathan Ake are key targets for manager Thomas Tuchel, and both are left-footed, just like Colwill.

It’s unlikely that all three would be needed to fill one position, which could force Colwill into seeking first-team football elsewhere.

Arsenal are not favourites to sign the player, as they can’t guarantee regular game time either, but Palace are currently believed to be the frontrunners to secure his services.
