Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Ben Chilwell will undergo an assessment on the knee injury he sustained in the 4-0 win over Juventus last night.
The 24-year-old had to be substituted 20 minutes from the end of the game and Tuchel says that, while he is hopeful that the player isn’t too badly injured, he is waiting to see what the medical staff say:
“He was in a lot of pain, now he feels a bit better. We have an examination tomorrow to be a bit more precise and we hope for the best. Hopefully, we get away with fingers crossed, with not too bad news.”
Chilwell has been in superb form in recent weeks and fans on Twitter are worried about how long he may be out for:
I was just getting used to the idea of never seeing Alonso again outside the Carabao Cup. Nightmares now.

No doctor but really hoping that it was that pain when you bang your knee on something and it's fine after a day or 2

The injury setback has come at just the wrong time for the England international, who has been playing with a great deal of confidence.
With N’Golo Kante also picking up an issue in the Juve match, it means that the Blues will head into the match against Manchester United this weekend with a number of fitness doubts, which is far from ideal considering the importance of the game.
