Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has revealed that manager Frank Lampard is helping him improve his finishing during training sessions.

Considering the Blues boss was the expert at arriving in the box to score goals, and is the club’s current all-time top goalscorer, he is the perfect man to learn off, and Mount says he is taking in all the information he can:

“After training, we do some finishing sometimes. I’m obviously talking to him every day, especially after the games – what I can do better, where I can make the runs and where I can get into the box.”

“I’m always speaking to him and trying to learn things every day, mostly after training doing finishing. There is no better person to learn from than him.”

Mount’s scoring record this season suggests he is already learning from the master. He scored twice in his first five games and is looking well placed to hit double figures if he continues in the same vein.

His excellent early season form has led to his call up for the England national side, and it will be interesting to see whether he is given his senior debut by manager Gareth Southgate in the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
