Morata to leave Chelsea and cause “domino effect” says Spanish football expert

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes out-of-sorts striker Alvaro Morata will leave Chelsea this summer, causing a “domino effect” of deals between some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Morata has failed to find the back of the net since Boxing Day for the Blues after having a blistering start to his Chelsea career in which he scored eight times in his first nine appearances for the club.

His poor form as of late however hasn’t detracted any potential suitors.

Bayern Munich are reported to be eyeing a summer move for the former Juventus star, and Balague believes any move for the Spaniard would spark a chain of transfers across Europe.

Balague believes that if Morata is to move to the Allianz Arena come the end of the season, the move will allow Robert Lewandowski to complete his long rumoured move to Real Madrid.

Morata’s depature could then also allow Chelsea to move for PSG striker Edinson Cavani, who is reportedly unhappy in France after a number of high profile bust-ups with team-mate Neymar.

A replacement for Cavani at PSG is yet to be identified, although the Ligue 1 leaders are understood to be keen on making a move for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard – a move which if made would complete a phenomenal quadruple of European transfers in the summer.

Chelsea were involved in a similar situation during the January transfer window with striker Michy Batshauyi.

The Belgium international’s last minute move on-loan to Borussia Dortmund sparked a chain of events that saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave Dortmund for Arsenal, and then Olivier Giroud swap the Gunners for Chelsea.

Giroud signed for £18 million, while Aubameyang joined Arsenal for nearly £60 million. Both have scored once for their new clubs.
