Michael Owen Predicts The Result As Chelsea Face Leeds

Former England international Michael Owen is expecting a goal-fest when Chelsea take on Leeds at Stamford Bridge this evening.

The BT Sport pundit is predicting that Frank Lampard’s side will try and attack their opponents but that could play into the strengths of the away side, leading to a shootout to see who comes out on top:

“The thing is with Chelsea, they can only play one way. They’ll attack Leeds, which should play into the visitors’ hands. However, although I think [Marcelo] Bielsa’s men will get some joy on the counter, I reckon Chelsea will have just enough quality to see them take the points.”

Owen is going for a 3-2 victory for Chelsea, which is a slightly surprising scoreline, considering that the Blues have been pretty solid defensively over the past couple of months.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has now kept nine clean sheets in 12 appearances since arriving at the club so it is not as though the home side have been leaking goals. However, Owen is right to say that Leeds won’t look to sit back.

You wouldn’t put it past them to get on the scoresheet but the firepower that Chelsea possess means they are the strong favourites to secure the three points.
