Michael Owen Gives His Verdict On Whether Chelsea Will Triumph Against West Ham

TV pundit Michael Owen believes Chelsea will come out with a comfortable home win against West Ham tomorrow evening.

With the Blues heading into the game off the back of a convincing 3-0 home win versus Brighton, he doesn’t believe the Hammers will find much joy against Maurizio Sarri’s side:

“Victory is looking essential [for Chelsea] to keep their top four hopes alive and with only one defeat on home soil in the PL this term they have made Stamford Bridge quite a fortress.”

“The Hammers have taken just one point from a possible last eighteen on the road and despite plenty of attacking flair are highly unlikely to add to that tally here.”

Despite a poor performance last weekend against Cardiff, Chelsea played with a lot of more energy and verve in their victory over the Seagulls in midweek.

In stark contrast, the Hammers were pretty awful in their 2-0 home defeat to Everton last time out. The scoreline belies how dominant the Toffees were, and if Manuel Pellegrini’s side play as badly at Stamford Bridge, they could be there for taking.

Still, London derbies are difficult to predict and you would expect West Ham to put in more of a fight tomorrow. Chelsea should, though, be firm favourites to get the three points, as Owen rightly points out.
