Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater put in an impressive display as he started the 2-1 friendly win over Bournemouth yesterday.
The 31-year-old’s passing was on point as he delivered a number of diagonal balls to the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi during the first half.
Drinkwater came off at the interval but Chelsea supporters on Twitter were suitably impressed with what they saw, with some suggesting that the former Leicester player should be given a chance by manager Thomas Tuchel:
It's hurts to say this but if continues to play like last night then maybe we should keep him, know I'm gonna get laughed at for saying this.

Drinkwater x Kanté might still be on the cards. If this guy builds on this, I see no reason why we can't be a pivotal player for us this season because that performance was immense

I’m not going to lie, after watching him yesterday, some part of me want to see him stay ?

I feel he is going to be vital for the team this season whenever jorginho is absent in the squad.

I thought I was the only person that notice it. Drinkwater still know how to play good football like J5. I hope he get form back

The midfielder has struggled for form during his four years at Stamford Bridge with injuries and personal issues having contributed to his lack of game time.
Whether Tuchel sees Drinkwater as having a future at the club, it does seem unlikely. The player has less than a year remaining on his contract and will likely be sold if an offer comes in for him. In the meantime, though, he is showing in preseason that he still possesses the ability to play at the top level.
