Malouda Now Free To Play Where He Wants

To clarify matters, even though Florent Malouda is still a part of Chelsea Football Club at this moment, he has not featured since he helped the team win the UEFA Champions League against Bayern Munich in Munich last year, and he is looking to leave the club in the summer.

Malouda was brought to Chelsea by Jose Mourinho in the golden era where the club won two consecutive Barclays Premier League titles. When he was signed from French side Lyon in 2007 for a fee of £13 million, Mourinho thought of him as an established and experienced footballer who could handle the demands of the English Premier League and he was clearly right.

From 2007, the Frenchman was a regular in Mourinho’s squads, and performed well from the wing with his lethal left foot. But slowly, the club was transforming into a youth based club, with players aging. It became a necessity for Chelsea to transform as all other elite clubs were introducing young bright talents into their squads. Hence, it is safe to say that after the departure of Mourinho, Malouda’s career at Stamford Bridge was beginning to decline.

Despite playing 26 Premier League matches last season and remaining fit and available this season, Malouda has not played a single match this term, to the disappointment of some Chelsea supporters. Malouda has revealed that he had an altercation with one of the internal members of the Chelsea setup, which is why he decided to wait for a year and part ways at the end of the current season.

Malouda’s career is not on the right track at the moment, but at the age of just 32, the player still has a few quality years in him to perform at the highest level, and will be weighing his options for next season.

According to the Metro, Malouda revealed, “I had a problem to sort out with certain people. It’s done. Now, I’m free. I’m going to be able to play again next season. I’ve been preparing all season long.”

“I’ve let people speak. I’m patient and very determined. I’ll be back next season. I already know where, but I’m not saying anything for the moment. Anything is possible.”

It will be interesting to see which clubs line up for Malouda, as the player is not only experienced in the Premier League, but also the Champions League.
