BBC presenter and former England international Gary Lineker has expressed his admiration for Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud after the Frenchman scored the winner against Norwich last night.
The 33-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Blues in the second half of the season and Lineker took to Twitter to ask why the striker isn’t praised more often:
I’ve always felt that @_OlivierGiroud_ is underrated. Excellent all-round centre-forward’s game. Hold up play, movement in the box, finishing is all top class. Might lack a yard of pace of the greats, but doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Giroud’s career in England has been a strange one, to say the least. He scored 105 goals in 253 games for Arsenal, before the Gunners let him leave two and a half years ago without much fanfare as they replaced him with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, he has never established himself as first choice despite always doing a good job when called upon. He was on the verge of leaving back in January due to a lack of game time before manager Frank Lampard persuaded him to stay.
It is a different story at international level, though, where he led the line as France won the World Cup in 2018, while he has scored 39 goals in 97 matches for his country.
