Latest Chelsea Injury Report For The Week: Updates On Tomori And Giroud

Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has been ruled of the game against Lille tomorrow evening. Manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that the centre-back has a hip injury.

The 21-year-old has been an unused substitute in the Blues’ last two league games but he will not be in the squad for the crucial Champions League clash.

Olivier Giroud also didn’t participate in training today, and while Lampard did not confirm why, the Frenchman will be unavailable for tomorrow’s match.

Chelsea’s other injury absentees are long-term issues. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is still recovering from an Achilles injury while Marco van Ginkel is building up his fitness following an extended period out with a knee problem.

Tomori’s apparent absence means the fitness of Antonio Rudiger is now of extra importance. The German has been back in full training for well over a week following groin surgery, and manager Frank Lampard says the defender is very close to making his comeback.
