Latest Chelsea Injury News: Midfielder Hands Lampard Big Fitness Boost

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has returned to the training pitch after recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.

The 23-year-old will not take part in full training just yet, but his return to fitness will be a big boost to manager Frank Lampard. When the England international will be ready to play first-team football again, it remains to be seen.

Loftus-Cheek has been out for seven months after sustaining his injury in a friendly against New England Revolution last May. Lampard has admitted that progress has been slower than the midfielder would have liked but there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel now.

Ahead of the clash against Tottenham this weekend, the Blues have two other fitness concerns. Fikayo Tomori sat out the loss to Bournemouth with a minor hip injury and he remains a doubt for Sunday’s game.

Olivier Giroud is also unlikely to feature, with the Frenchman still recovering from a sprained ankle.
