Lampard Speaks Out Amid Claims That PSG Are After Chelsea Star

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said people should not assume that Antonio Rudiger will be leaving Stamford Bridge despite his absence from recent matchday squads.

Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham are among the teams who are said to be interested in taking the German international on loan before the transfer window closes, but Lampard says there are no guarantees about his departure:

“I wouldn’t assume anything,”Lampard said on whether you can assume that Rudiger will leave Chelsea. I wouldn’t assume with Antonio or any other players in the squad. We’re not there until next Monday when the window shuts so other than that I would have no assumptions.”

Rudiger’s career at Chelsea has taken a nosedive over the past few months. He had been first choice for most of last season but he now finds himself behind the likes of Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori in the pecking order.

The 27-year-old was an unused substitute for the 3-1 win against Brighton on the opening day but he wasn’t even in the squad for the 6-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup despite Lampard fielding a much-changed team.

Over the weekend, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel refused to be drawn on speculation that the Ligue One champions are interested in Rudiger, but it is thought that they are keen on signing a number of players from the Blues, including Tiemoue Bakayoko and Jorginho.
