Kovacic Pays Tribute To “Incredible” Chelsea Teammate After AC Milan Win

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has praised Mason Mount for his recent upturn in form.

Mount played a pivotal role in helping the Blues secure a 2-0 win against AC Milan last night with two assists, and Kovacic claims the midfielder’s quality in possession, combined with his work rate, is a lethal combination:

“He’s doing it right for a few years now here at Chelsea, so nothing new from Mason. It’s incredible work rate, and in the end, when his quality as well goes up, today an assist for the penalty, we are happy he’s in good form.”

It has taken Mount a while to get going this season, but we are finally seeing him at his very best. While he still hasn’t gotten on the scoresheet himself, the 23-year-old now has five assists; all of which have come since Graham Potter was appointed manager.

From the looks of things, it seems Mount and every other first-team player are doing their very best to impress the new head coach. Whether this “new manager bounce” will wear off, we shall have to wait and see, but Potter appears to be having a very positive effect on the club in the opening weeks of his reign.
